I grew up in a very small town but now live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with my husband. I miss some things about living in a small town, but for the most part I love the atmosphere of the city.
I have my Master’s Degree in Media Art and Technology (Web Design/Development) but learned pretty quickly that I just didn’t have the kind of passion for it that would let me sit and code for 8 straight hours a day. I still do freelance development on the side so at least my degrees aren’t completely wasted. In lieu of a web development job, I began looking for something in the gaming industry and now I work full time doing moderation for a popular children’s game. I absolutely love my job, and the fact that I get to work from home, and wouldn’t trade it for anything (unless I could find someone to pay me full time for actually playing games….or sleeping).
In 2012 I met the man who would become my best friend, in August of 2015 we bought our first home, and on October 17, 2016 we got married. It’s definitely been an adjustment for both of us transitioning from our hermit lifestyles to having someone around all the time, but I’m very glad that I get to go through that transition with him.
When I’m not working or trying to do this thing that people call “adulting” you can usually find me playing video games or binge-watching something on Netflix for the 16th time. I collect anime figurines, FUNKO Pop figures, and memorabilia from my favorite fandoms such as: Fallout, Once Upon a Time, Star Wars, Minecraft, and Doctor Who.
I have been blogging off and on since 2001 on various journal sites and domains. My first domain was called Dark Soul and I bounced around after that until early 2011 when I was blogging at Finding Whitters. That year I experienced a major upheaval in my life and I stopped blogging completely.
The name Ordinary Magic is inspired by lyrics in the song “Finding Wonderland” from the Broadway show Wonderland: A New Alice. It’s a song about how its never too late to re-discover yourself, your inner-child, all the magic that’s around you…even if you can’t always see it.
“Ordinary Magic happens every single day; Wonderland is never far away.”
The domain name was purchased through NameCheap and is hosted on my account at HostGator. My current theme is Florence by SoloPine because, try as I might, I couldn’t muster up the inspiration design my own theme from scratch at the moment. All graphics in the theme, or displayed in my blog were created by me unless otherwise noted.
